Community Service

The attorneys and staff at Barron Peck Bennie & Schlemmer strongly believe that they have an obligation to give part of their expertise back to the community in which they live. Our lawyers and staff members take part in a broad variety of community-based charities, educational projects, and other community-based activities.

We list them here to show the breadth of our interests; we use our skills for many purposes:

Educational and youth

Educational and youth coaching:

  • A team from BPBS serves as tutors and mentors at Parker Elementary School in Madisonville on a weekly basis.
  • Coaching at Kilgour Elementary School
  • St. Xavier High School development office
  • Coaching for youth baseball, basketball, football, softball, swimming and soccer teams in several counties
  • Swimming coach in community swim team
  • Board work of soccer league, community athletic association

International:

  • Work with sister cities organizations
  • Board member, international educational foundation
  • Teaching the jury system in law schools in Ukraine

Legal organizations:

  • Our lawyers have served on the boards of the Cincinnati and Ohio State Bar Associations
  • Chair of Small Firm/Solo Practice committee of Ohio State Bar Association
  • “Service to Others” award from American Bar Association
  • Special Service award from Cincinnati Bar Association
  • “Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award,” Legal Aid Society of Gtr. Cincinnati

Religious:

  • Our staff members have served on the governing boards in their religious institutions in the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish faiths
